A Tiny Good Thing
A couple months ago I deep cleaned The Honey House A couple months ago I deep cleaned The Honey House and prepared it for a new inhabitant.

Luna Mae and I moved two blocks away into a “big” house with my best friend Grace and partner Reyn.

It was a huge emotional process to mentally shift from living in this magical home surrounded by gardens and bees, that I built with my own hands, and lived in for almost 6 years.

So many memories of building with my father, and immense growth are held in those six sides and just a mere 150sqft.

An accurate description of how I felt was heartbroken. Still I feel heartache when I’m
around it, or when it enters my dreams. I feel it is part of me, an extension of me, like another limb.

The move was necessary and important but it felt like a break up, because this is not just any old house.

I was separating myself from the soul of a home that had moved with me to 6 different plots of land, had two litters of kittens birthed under the couch, had mountain views in two states, parked beneath towering Douglas Fir trees, was surrounded by chickens and alpacas, contained me through breakups and falling in love, lived on grid and off, had many visitors spend the night and feel it’s magic, was a labor of love to build with my family and friends, and had protected and healed me.

Living in a home that you built and designed for yourself is a remarkable experience.

To feel held, almost understood, and taken care of by a house is something very unique and rare.

It feels like love.
Happy Earth Day! She takes care of us and we mus Happy Earth Day!

She takes care of us and we must take care of Her!

Plant some seeds, stand on the Earth barefoot with your hands in the soil, cook fresh local food, use less products that don’t biodegrade, make compost your religion, buy second hand, etc.

Please take small steps (or big if you can!) each day in a more environmentally conscious direction. She is begging us.

Always thankful for this community of builders bui Always thankful for this community of builders building healthy more efficient little homes!

Also, recognizing why and how we live on this North American soil.

The indigenous food we eat today and many days…

The generations that came before and cultivated this land…

The white settlers that forced themselves on this land and people…

Today marks a time each year to reflect and to be grateful for what we have.

I simply wish that gratitude was linked to another day in our Country’s history. A different story.

Take care today❤️
